Support

Help when you need it.

Start with the answers below or email ClassAnchor Support with a description of the issue.

Where is my classroom information stored?

ClassAnchor stores its database and automatic backups locally in the app’s Application Support folder on your Mac. Open ClassAnchor’s Privacy & Data settings and choose “Open data folder” to view it.

Does ClassAnchor upload student or lesson data?

No. The current version has no account system, analytics, advertising, or cloud service. Classroom data is not transmitted to the developer or third parties.

Why does ClassAnchor request microphone access?

Microphone access is optional and used only when you start the classroom sound meter. Audio buffers are analyzed in memory to estimate the current level; they are never recorded, saved, or transmitted.

How do I move my information to another Mac?

Use Local Backups to export a JSON backup, move that file securely, and select Restore Backup on the other Mac. Rosters can also be moved with CSV import and export.

What if an attached lesson file no longer opens?

ClassAnchor stores a reference to the local file. If the file was moved, renamed, or deleted, remove the old attachment and add it again from its new location.

How do I reset microphone permission?

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, then enable or disable ClassAnchor. Restart the app after changing the permission if necessary.

How do I delete my local ClassAnchor data?

First open the data folder from ClassAnchor’s Privacy & Data settings. Then quit ClassAnchor and remove the ClassAnchor data folder and any exported backups you created. Removing the app itself may not automatically remove its support files.

Privacy Policy

Private by design.

Effective October 4, 2026 · Last updated October 4, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how ClassAnchor handles information when you use the macOS application. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer of ClassAnchor.

ClassAnchor does not collect or transmit classroom information. The app is designed to work offline and stores its working data locally on your Mac.

The current version contains no advertising, analytics, behavioral tracking, user accounts, or third-party tracking SDKs.

2. Information stored locally

ClassAnchor may store information that you enter or create, including:

  • Your teacher display name and schedule.
  • Class names, student names, initials, attendance, participation states, and accommodation or learner-support notes.
  • Lessons, Markdown notes, quick notes, timers, grouping rules, student-pick history, and sound-meter preferences.
  • Local paths to lesson attachments selected by you.

This information is saved in ClassAnchor’s local Application Support storage and is not sent to us.

3. Optional microphone access

ClassAnchor requests microphone permission only when you choose to start the classroom sound meter. Short audio buffers are processed in memory to estimate the current ambient sound level.

  • Audio is not recorded.
  • Audio samples are not saved.
  • Audio is not transmitted to us or any third party.
  • Only the current level estimate and your chosen threshold are used by the app.

You can stop the meter at any time or revoke microphone permission in macOS System Settings.

4. Files, attachments, widgets, and backups

ClassAnchor accesses files only when you select them through standard macOS file controls. This includes CSV roster files, JSON backup files, and lesson attachments.

Exported CSV and JSON files are written only to locations you choose. Automatic restore points are stored locally and rotated so that the latest ten automatic snapshots are retained.

The ClassAnchor widget receives a limited local snapshot through the app’s shared App Group, including the teacher display name and up to four schedule entries. This information remains on the device and is not sent to a server.

Backup and roster files may contain personal or educational information. You are responsible for storing, transferring, and deleting exported files securely.

5. Data collection, sale, and sharing

We do not collect, sell, rent, monetize, or share information entered into ClassAnchor. The app does not transmit classroom data to the developer, advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties.

Apple may independently process information related to downloading, purchasing, updating, or reviewing the app under Apple’s own privacy policies. That processing is controlled by Apple and is not part of ClassAnchor’s in-app data handling.

6. Retention, control, and deletion

Your in-app information remains locally on your Mac until you edit or delete it, remove the local ClassAnchor data, or erase the device. Exported backups remain wherever you save them until you delete them.

You can view the local storage location by opening ClassAnchor’s Privacy & Data settings and selecting “Open data folder.” To remove all local data, open that location, quit ClassAnchor, and delete the ClassAnchor data folder and any exported backups you no longer need.

7. Children, students, and educational records

ClassAnchor is an organizational tool intended for teachers and other adult educators. It does not provide student accounts, communications, or online services directed to children.

Teachers and schools are responsible for entering only information they are permitted to use and for following applicable school policies and privacy laws. Avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information. Student-related information entered into the app remains locally under the user’s control.

8. Information you send to support

If you contact us by email, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to provide. We use that information only to respond, troubleshoot, maintain security, and improve ClassAnchor. Please do not send student records or other sensitive classroom information.

Support correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain support history, meet legal obligations, or protect the app and its users. It is not sold or used for advertising.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when ClassAnchor’s features or legal obligations change. The revised policy will show a new “Last updated” date. If a future version introduces data collection or third-party services, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before or when that change is released.
